Is the Disney Dining Plan worth it in 2026?

Last checked: Oct 31, 2026

The dining plan is a prepaid bundle of meal credits. It can save some families money, but mostly it buys convenience. Here's what it costs and how to tell if it fits you.

What it costs in 2026

What's included

Each night of the plan gives every person in your party a set of meal and snack credits, and the plan includes a refillable resort mug (Walt Disney World: Dining Plans). Credits roll over during your stay and expire at midnight on your checkout day (Walt Disney World: Dining Plans).

Gratuities are not included, so budget for tips at table-service restaurants (Walt Disney World: Dining Plans).

Free kids dining in 2026

Disney is offering free kids dining with eligible 2026 vacation packages (Walt Disney World: Dining Plans). If you qualify, the math shifts a lot for families with kids 3–9, so check the terms before you book.

Who it suits

Common advice is to skip the plan unless you value prepaying. It tends to suit families who:

  • Really will sit down for a table-service meal every night.
  • Want food paid for up front so they don't think about it in the parks.
  • Qualify for the free kids dining offer.

If you'd rather eat light, snack through the day, or take a midday break at the hotel, paying as you go is often simpler. Run your own menu prices through the dining plan calculator to see which way your family lands.
